Why does it cost so much?

Has anyone their ceiling skimmed recently and could share what they have paid? I been quoted £850 for this ceiling and for the small edges where the covings were removed. The room is 2.4m x 6.8m Skimming only, no plasterboard work I think this is excessive. Need some feedback. Thank you
