Prohibited practices
QuoteVote is a homeowner discussion and price-comparison community. It is not a lead board, advertising directory or place to solicit work.
No self-promotion or service advertising
Tradespeople, businesses and other service providers must not use quotes, comments or replies to advertise themselves, solicit jobs, promote another provider, or move a conversation into a private sales channel.
Contact and promotional information
Content may be held for review when it contains information commonly used to promote or solicit services. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, website links, social or messaging handles, requests to call/text/message someone, and similar contact details or lead-generation language.
Relevant links can still be allowed
A link or contact-like reference is not automatically a violation. For example, a homeowner may share a genuinely useful product page, manufacturer information or another source that directly helps the discussion. Content that triggers the automated check is reviewed by a moderator so legitimate context can be approved.
Other prohibited behaviour
Spam, repeated promotional posting, disguised recommendations made for commercial gain, scams or misleading claims, harassment or hate, inappropriate content, and posting private or personal information are also prohibited.
How automatic review works
QuoteVote uses lightweight server-side pattern checks when a quote, comment or reply is submitted or edited. If the text appears to contain contact or promotional information, it is held from public view and sent to the private moderation queue. The check does not make the final decision.
A moderator can approve the content, in which case it appears normally with no public flag, or remove it with a recorded moderation reason. The automated text check does not currently inspect text embedded inside uploaded images; image misuse can still be reported and moderated.
Moderation decisions
QuoteVote may remove or restrict content that breaches these rules or the Terms of Service. Moderation is intended to keep discussion useful and non-commercial rather than prevent genuine homeowners from sharing relevant information.
